TMATF hopes to add drama, videography, film, acting, and speech communication classes in the near future.

The Mya Arts and Tech Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization that provides arts and technology education, leadership, mentoring and other life skills to the under-privileged inner-city youth within the Washington Metropolitan area. The Foundation offers various classes such as music, sound engineering, step & precision, African & Taratibu dance, self-awareness and many other classes that provide confidence and support for our youth.
Program Dates: The six (6) week program is from July 1st thru August 8th, 2008, on Monday thru Friday from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. However, there are specified work days for each position. Please Note, It’s mandatory to attend the Kick-Off Party on June 18th and the Program Finale on August 23rd! More information about Teacher’s Orientation date, Specific work dates, and Rehearsal dates will be provided at the time of interview.

Hip Hop Dance & Activities Dance Refresher Instructor
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum and teach a dance routine where students will learn dance skills, discipline, heritage, and respect for self and team-mates and perform the routine at the Program Finale.
Goal: Students must be prepared to showcase what they have learned at the Program’s Finale.
Requirements: At least one year of teaching experience in varies forms of dance i.e. Hip Hop, African, etc., and interaction with children ages ranging from 5-13 years old. Will need to prepare and teach a Hip Hop routine for the Program Finale. Please Note, when necessary a small portion of this class will be utilized as a dance activities refresher course that allows students to recap on other dance classes in addition to this hip hop course. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25.00/hr
Step (Female & Male) Dance Instructors
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum that involves a step routine where students will learn listening skills, creative movement, direction, team work and motivation.
Goal: Students must be prepared to showcase their routine at the Program Finale.
Requirements: At least one year of teaching experience as a step instructor with interaction with children ages ranging from 5-13 years old. Will need to prepare a step routine to perform at the Program Finale. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25/hr
Art & Photography Instructor
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum and teach students basic techniques of art and photography.
Goal: Students will learn perspective, design, spectrum angles, dimension while challenging their creative skills and exploring possibilities and self expression.
Requirements: At least one year of experience working with children ages ranging from 5-13yrs old. Have basic knowledge of a digital camera and basic art skills. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25/hr
Computer/Money Management Skills Instructor
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum to teach students basic computer applications and money management skills.
Goal: Students will learn the basic creative computer skills such as power point, publisher and money management. Also, students need to be able to create a basic newsletter that can be utilized during the program & program finale.
Requirements: At least one year of experience working with children ages ranging from 5-13yrs old. Have basic computer skills i.e., publisher, clip art, photo attachment, etc., to develop a simple unique newsletter that can be used & displayed during the program & program finale. Teach basic money management skills for kids of this age range. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25/hr
Life Skills Instructor
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum to teach students the basic skills to get through real life issues.
Goal: Expose students to the many facets of life, such as, etiquette, self-esteem, health & drug awareness, and much more.
Requirements: At least one year of experience teaching life skills with children ranging from the ages of 5-13yrs old. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25/hr
Music Instructor
Responsibilities: Prepare a curriculum to teach students the basic concepts of music.
Goal: Introduce students the basics of music in order for them to gain a greater appreciation for the art form as well as learn about the following: rhythm, melody, harmony, musical concepts and history.
Requirements: At least one year of experience teaching music to kids ranging 5-13yrs old. Teach overall basic skills of music using percussion and piano. Prepare songs to sing at the Program Finale. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $25/hr
On-Site Manager
Responsibilities: Primarily over-see the on-site operation; insure classes are equipped with necessary materials, monitor children to ensure they are where they should be, assist teachers with any concerns or issues with any students as well as inform parents if necessary and any other on-site managerial duties as needed. Perform administrative duties i.e., ensure timesheets are signed daily, ensure that any documents or announcements are relayed to students to provide to parents, collect any documents and/or materials, scheduling (ensuring that substitute teachers are available when needed), assist with the overall coordination of field trips as well as attend and provided any other administrative duties as assigned. Provide updates and report to the Program Director periodically.
Goal: Serve as on-site point of contact.
Requirements: At least one to two years of managerial & administrative experience. At least three years of experience in interacting with children ages ranging from 5-13 years old. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, relate well with individuals of all age groups, good writing and presentation skills, poised professional in appearance and manner, ability to multi-task, highly organized and detail-oriented, effective problem-solver, works well under pressure with minimal supervision and displays a very strong work ethic. Have knowledge of Microsoft suite i.e., word & excel and internet skills. Also, the selected candidate will need to pass a background check.
Pay: $20/hr
Teacher Assistants (Eight (8) Teacher Assistants are needed)
(Please Note: Teachers Assistants are needed for each Instructor)
Responsibilities: Help teachers to maintain their classes, assist with the children, follow directions, run errands, and monitor breaks.
Goal: Assist Teachers
Requirements: Work well with others, able to follow directions, ability to multi-task and have at least one year of experience interacting with children ages ranging from 5-13yrs old and other duties as assigned.
Pay: $11.50/hr
